Our intermediate team got their bid for championship glory under way last Sunday with a victory over Corofin. Played in glorious sunshine in Tuam stadium we ran out winners on a final scoreline of 2-12 to 1-13.
Corofin started brightly and came out of the blocks and led 1-03 to 0-01 after 10 minutes. We began to get to grips with the task at hand and persistent fouling by the Corofin backs afforded Matthew Reddington a number of scoring opportunities from frees. A well taken Jaime Coen point from play Drew is level after 20 minutes 0-06 to 1-03. Corofin regained the initiative and scored 2 points before another Reddington free saw us reduce their lead to the minimum. The final score of the half was a point from Corofin which saw then lead 1-06 to 0-07 at half time. We stared the second half the better side and three pints from play and a free saw take the lead for the first time. We extend our lead to 2 when Reddington scored from a free before Corofin hit a purple patch to score 3 points. A goal at this juncture was going to crucial and we duly score it when Jaime Coen Palmer to the Corofin net. Corofin responded with a point but when Martin Cleary beat his man to the ball, turned on a sixpence, and soled through to bury the ball to the Corofin net we led by 4 with 8 minutes remains. Corofin kicked 2 points to reduce our lead but when Damian Reddington scored a point from play to increase our lead back to 3 as the clock ticked into injury time. A late pint from a free from Corofin concluded the scoring.

Playing into the town goal, and with the wind at their backs, our boys started brightly and were 2-02 to no score ahead after 10 minutes. Sean Glynn and Dylan Brady getting our goals. Tuam responded with a point before we increased our lead with 3 more points. Both sides were guilty of missing good scoring chances and Tuam closed out the half by scoring the last point. Half time score Dunmore 2-05 Tuam 0-02. We started the second half brightly but didn't trouble the umpires and when Tuam kicked 3 points they were back in the game. A well taken goal by Jack Neenan cancelled out the 3 points and by the mid way point of the second half there was still 9 points between the sides. A some what fortuitous Tuam goal was quickly cancelled out by our fourth goal when Thomas Cronin got on the end of a flowing Dunmore move to palm to the net. They are now playing Corofin on Friday evening. Details to be confirmed. Registration is still outstanding from a number of players. Please forward to Teddy Nestor or David Glynn ASAP. The club would like to wish under 21 captain John Rhattigan a speedy recovery from his recent injury.
