Ballintubber GAA Club Lotto
Ballintubber G.A.A. Club is situated in West Mayo just 7 miles south of Castlebar on the Ballinrobe road. The club covers the villages of Killawalla, Ballintubber, Clogher, Carnacon, and Ballyglass . The club plays its Senior, Junior, Under 21, Minor and Under 16 games in the Ray Prendergast Memorial Park, Clogher while all underage games and training from Under 8's to Under 14's takes place in Ballintubber G.A.A. pitch. Ballintubber G.A.A. Club only recently celebrated its centenary in 2010 with the greatest achievement in the Clubs proud history also happening in this year when our Senior team won the Mayo Senior Championship title in their first ever final which was also retained in 2011.
Many players from the Club have been fortunate to wear the Green and Red of Mayo with Paddy Prendergast, one of the few remaining players from the last Mayo team in 1951 to win the elusive Sam Maguire. Other more recent players to wear the green and red include one of Mayo’s consistent performers and 2 time All-Star winner Alan Dillon while current Mayo Senior team manager James Horan who is also the holder of 2 All-Star awards always starred in Croke Park. Another well-known player includes Young Player of the year Cillian O’Connor who made history when he won the award for the second year in a row recently, a feat never achieved before. While Jason Gibbons, Danny Geraghty and Cathal Hallinan are also important members of the Mayo Senior panel for 2013.
The Club invested heavily into its future when they redeveloped the outdated Ballintubber Community Centre into the impressive Ballintubber Resource Centre while also adding a state of the art Astro-Turf pitch as well as a gym. Other additions included a popular walkway around the extended Ballintubber G.A.A. pitch with street lighting as well as flood lighting for both the training and pitch areas while a new Stand was officially opened with the total investment costing well in excess of 1 million euros. Pictures of all the work carried on can be found on www.ballintubbergaa.com.
However all these successes and developments come at great expense as the running costs of our club continue to increase, however the club are fortunate to have a very successful lotto in place since June 1996. While in 2005 Ballintubber G.A.A. Club linked up with www.MyClubFinances.com to add a new link for club followers to support the lotto no matter where they are with supporters locally and in other areas of Ireland as well as supporters in the UK, America and Australia have also been able to support while the support of the local footballing community here continues to be immense . Draws take place most Saturday nights while on occasion also on Sunday night with the details published here shortly afterwards.
