The spine of the team was rock solid with Stephen Smith and Ray Madden at full & centre back ... nothing passed these two giants of the game as the ball seemed to gravitate to them. At mid-field Aidan Crosbie and Gary Yorke dominated. Kieran Shankey and Francis Owen at centre and full forward demonstrated that the miles may be on the clock but the minds are fresh as daisies. Ray Magee once again proved that you can't keep a good man down. David and Damien Russell combined telepathically as only twins can do with David registering 2-2. Captain Marvel, Thomas "The Tommy" Owens inspired the team to victory with another hair-raising speech and almost capped his performance off with a goal in the first half. Cornerbacks Mark Kiernan and Emmett Roche didn't put a foot wrong and wingbacks Ronnie Owens and David Dolan defended and attacked with gusto. Goalkeeper Johnny Carolan saved the penalty well but the defense couldn't keep out the rebound. It was a great team performance and as the village prepares for the final we intend to have a media ban so the lads can focus on the task in hand.
