Kilmainhamwood took on Drumconrath at 6pm on Saturday 16th in Meath Hill in the first round of Teach na Teamhrach J A FC ... and came away with a hard-fough one point victory on a scoreline of 1-8 to 0-10.

Kilmainhamwood took the lead through Sean Mulligan, who played well throughout, but Drumconrath drew level soon after. Drumconrath should have gone ahead but missed some easy frees. Stephen Kiernan scored the only goal of the game midway through the first half after some good work from Aidan Crosbie. Crosbie and Andy Farrelly then scored to push the 'Wood into a 1-3 to 0-1 lead. Then Drumconrath scored five points in a row to level matters before Ray Magee gave the 'Wood a half time lead of 1-4 to 0-6.

The second half was tough going with both sides giving it their all. Drumconrath levels just after the break before David Russell and Ray Magee give the 'Wood a two point lead with 8 minutes remaining. The game was level as full time approached and following a collision of two Drumconrath players the 'Wood put together the winning move when the ball ended up with centre back Francis Owens who put the ball over the ball from 25 yards over towards the right side of the pitch.

Drumconrath could have equalised when a softly awarded free from 40 yards was pushed to the right and wide. The final whistle went and the 'Wood where delighted to get their Teach na Teamhrach J A FC off to a winning start.

Best for the 'Wood where Emmett Clarke, Damien Cunningham and Francis Owens in defence, Andy Farrelly at midfield and Sean Mulligan and Ray Magee in attack.
