Raining champs at our Family Fun Day….
Congratulations to everyone involved in our annual Family Fun Day. Despite the persistent rain, a great day was had by all. Activities kicked of just after 1 pm, by our MC, Mick Clarke, with our nursery, right up minor teams lining out to put on a fantastic exhibition of football. As the rain continued to pour down, spirits were high as everybody got stuck into the “spud and spoon races”, kick fada, sack race, sprints, 3 legged races and welly toss.
Our “not so young” hero’s wanted a piece of the action and challenged our minors to a quick game of football, officiated by the one and only Liam Shankey. Play was tight, with the “mature lads” struggling to keep the youngsters at bay. Despite several requests for HawkEye, the game ended in a draw. Penalties to decide the outcome with Josh Clarke between the sticks.
As always, our Healthy Club team were very busy offering guidance, advice & support.
The Cake Bake competition drew the day to a close with Mary Shankey and Martina O’Donnell diligently sampling every entry, with many requiring a re-taste! They reached a unanimous decision and awarded 3rd to Caroline Ruane, 2nd to Laura Devlin and 1st place to Cormac Shankey.
Joey McEnaney and family from Advanced Construction, presented a lovely new strip to the our under 9 squad.
Thank you to all the parents, friends and neighbours who turned out despite the soggy weather. We hope you all had as much fun as we did!
Thank you to all the people who made this day possible, our organisers, our coaches, our cleaners, our BBQ technicians, our gazebo lenders, our photographers, our pitch maintenance crew and of course our sponsors on the day - Cabra Castle, SuperValu Kells, SuperValu Kingscourt, Lidl Carrickmacross. Without our sponsors we would not have been able to host this “free to all” event - with a sprinkle of rain….
regards
