It was with great sadness that all associated with Kilmainhamwood GFC yesterday learned of the death of our former coach, manager, trainer, mentor and friend Paddy Clarke following illness. Paddy joined us in mid-1995 and his unique style lead us onto unprecedented glory, culminating in winning the Meath Senior Football Championship in 1996. Paddy was an astute and thorough coach with ideas and techniques ahead of the time. He had a unique way to encourage us to greater heights where “victory was all about guts and courage”. He had time for everyone and he made us all feel an integral part of the team. We were young, wild and fancy-free but Paddy allowed us to express ourselves while he remained in complete control. We owe him a lot as he made an indelible mark on all our young lives. When our not-so-young selves met up these day, we fondly regale stories about the man from the Wee County.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Reposing at his home from 5 o’clock until 10 o’clock on Monday and from 1 o’clock until 9 o’clock on Tuesday. Removal on Wednesday morning at 10.30 o’clock arriving to St. Mary’s Church, James Street, for Funeral Mass at 11 o’clock. Burial afterwards in Calvary Cemetery. No flowers or Mass cards, please. Donations, if desired, to The Paddy Clarke Remembrance fund for young footballers.

regards
