A meeting of the GAA Covid Advisory Group took place last Monday night. It was the view of the group that the incidence of the virus in the community remains at a level where it would be irresponsible for the GAA to permit a return to collective training at this moment in time. However, the group did welcome the significant and ongoing reduction in case numbers over the course of the last number of weeks and it was agreed to reconvene on the week commencing February 15th to further consider the matter. In the meantime everyone is encouraged to stay safe, and stay active at home, and within your 5km travel limit following all public health guidelines. The Associations will issue their fixture calendars in due course.

Lucan Sarsfields Healthy Club are pleased to link in again with the Marie Keating Foundation. We previously raised money for the charity through our last "Ladies Night" and the "Mens Moustaches and Music" night. February 4th is World Cancer Day, an internationally celebrated day designed to raise awareness for all of the different cancer types affecting people in Ireland and around the world, while also giving strength and a sense of community to those currently on a cancer journey. This year’s theme is “I Am and I Will” and focuses on the individual power we all have to help reduce our risk of cancer, and stay healthy now, and well into the future. This year, we are working together in conjunction with the Irish Cancer Prevention Network and the National Cancer Control Programme, with our partners, Breakthrough Cancer Research and the Irish Cancer Society to ask you to think about the foods you consume, and how they can make a difference to your risk of developing cancer in the future.
The Dermot Earley Youth Leadership Initiative started 3 weeks ago. This program is designed to help build leadership skills and make a positive impact on their community. They will finish out the program with a qualification in youth leadership and community development from NUIG
