Welcome to this week’s club news.

Friday night Éire Óg Junior As played Baltinglass at home. With all sorts of distractions in the air it was not exactly the best of times for putting teams together and Baltinglass are to be complimented for having undertaken the long and exacting journey to Na Clocha Liatha. Éire Óg won 1-12 to 0-8 after a very entertaining game.

U-14 IOMÁINT Éire Óg is not in a position, on its own, to field a hurling team at this age group so it has joined with Kilcoole under the banner of North District. The squad has been training for over a month and attendances have been very satisfactory. This has led to the players developing a strong sense of identity and comradeship so the management of Colm Dorgan (Éire Óg) and Gary Cody (Kilcoole) is confident of these lads giving a good account of themselves during the season. The team will be wearing an attractive jersey in alternating bands of a rich green and blue emblazoned with the logo Horizon Productions (Kilcoole). Photos of the presentation of the new kit by the company's manager, Eamonn Taggart, are at http://bit.ly/1Th8rE5

U-14 PEIL: Our U-14 footballers made the journey to Thomastown Road, Cuala to play their local counterparts in a practice game on Good Friday. As it turned out, despite the week-end that was in it, a group of 30 players travelled. Two 15-a -side matches were played simultaneously and Éire Óg were victorious in both. The size of the squad at this age level allows the club to take the unprecedented step of entering 2 teams in the league; a testament to the dedication and the management skills of its mentors. They were under the care of Maurice Prendergast, Peter O'Neill and Tadhg Shanahan in Cuala. The match proved to be an excellent preparation for the county Féile competition which begins in early April.

LOTTO The numbers in tonight’s (29th) lotto draw were 6,14,23,28. Nobody matched all four numbers but three people; Valerie Nason, Ray Barry and Bernie Cosgrave matched three and share €200. Next week’s jackpot climbs to €6,600. Tickets just €2 at www.eireoggreystones.com

GROUNDS:  Upgrading and development projects are in train with respect to our grounds. Dugouts are being installed in the main pitch and are nearly ready for use. The lighting system on the road side of the original one are being improved and this will allow the alleviation of the training load which heretofore has been the lot of the other side. The goal areas in this pitch have been re-sodded and have been securely cordoned off to ensure that the grass takes hold. See how they look at http://bit.ly/1WVBbRy

Yours in sport,
