The junior hurlers went down to a well-drilled Slieve Bloom team in the round2 replay and they surely must be considered favourites for the Junior A title now. Mountmellick now play Abbeyleix in the relegation final. Our footballers overcame all the pre-match odds to hammer The Heath on Sunday afternoon. Winning by only 0-6 0-4 after a low-key first half, Mountmellick blitzed The Heath in the second and at one stage, led by 12 points. Final score was 2-12 1-7 and Mountmellick now play St Josephs in round3. Our U14 hurlers had a big win over Slieve Margy in the B shield semifinal. It was the first time this year that we've had a team close to full strength and it showed. Winning comfortably enough at HT, Na Fianna coasted to a substantial win. Our U17s play in round2 of the A championship v Joes/Barrowhouse on Thursday, with the winners playing Killeshin/Crettyard next Tuesday. The Junior hurlers out on Friday in Colt and the U14s play the A championship shield semifinal on Wednesday 24th v Port, a team they've beaten in the Feile but to whom they've lost in the league. Planning is well under way for the Monster Auction on Sunday, September 25th in the clubhouse in Acragar. If anyone wants to contribute, please contact a committee member.
