There was one winner of the weekly lotto of €5,500, numbers drawn were 5-14-19, congratulations to Tessie Collins. Next weeks jackpot is €1,000 draw to take place at the Boatmans. The Castlehaven U16 team played Eire Og away in the league last Tuesday evening ,they were comprehensively beaten by 4-16pts to 0-06pts. They played Bantry Blues in the league at home on Friday evening. The U 12 team travelled to Pairc Ui Chaoimh on Wednesday 30 of July for a blitz. to play three 15minute games . The first game was against Glanworth, a tight marking, tough tackling team. However once The Haven started using the wide open space of Pairc Ui Chaoimh and longer passes and running at speed, they got to grips with the game finished well ahead.
Next up was a team from Limerick, St Patricks. While hurling is their main interest, they had some very talented individuals on display who proved a handful for Haven boys. However with some positional changes and better overall balanced team we got over them as well.
Final game of the day was our old friends Nemo Rangers. With a panel of 25 players some of them very well grown lads we knew we were in for a tough battle. Missing our normal mid fielders of Sean Bohane and Jack Cahalane we started with Ritchie Burchill and James Mc Nulty there. Both worked very hard linked up well with backs to deliver good ball to forwards. Liam Mc Carthy, Donchadh Maguire and Thomas O' Mahony all did very well in defence and Fiacra Collins was excellent in goal with only a few unstoppable shots that even Brian Hurley would be proud of passing him. In a packed midfield area Tiernan Collins and Jack O Neill also competed well to keep pressure on. In the forwards Donnacha O Donovan was constantly threatening with Sean Brown ,Cormac Mc Carthy and Jamie O Driscoll also working well. Half way through this game Nemo introduced a whole new team but the more settled Haven boys coped well and the game ended all square.
