The minor team had a very good victory over Wolfe Tones in the championship at Dunmanway last Thursday evening .The game was very entertaining ,with both teams playing attacking football. Castlehaven played some great football for the first half and lead at half time by 3- 09pts to 2-02pts.Wolfe Tones got two early goals in the second half and cut the deficit to 2pts. Castlehaven regrouped and finished stongly to win by 4-14pts to 3-08pts. They are now playing Bantry Blues in the quarter final of the championship. The junior team lost to Bandon in the championship at Rosscarbery on Sunday evening Bandon were deserving winners on the day but the final score line flattered them. It was a game decided by whatever team converted their scoring chances. Castlehaven started very lively but failed convert their chances especially in the first half. Bandon took their goal chances and won the game by 2-14pts., to 1-07pts.
The players showed tremendous spirit during the match and never gave up but their best efforts were not good enough on the day. The under 14 team played Ilen Rovers in the U14 A final in Skibbereen on Sunday night .The final was a great game of football between two very good teams.The game was full of drama with great passages of play by both teams .Ilen started well and raced into an early lead . The Haven settled and for the next forthy minutes, they dominated the game and played some great attacking football to race into an eight point lead. Ilen got late goals to draw the match, with time nearly up they got a penalty, our goalie saved it but controversially the referee made it be retaken and Ilen scored to win by 7-06pts. to 4-12pts. The players are a credit to the club with the display and character they showed during the match. The club were disappointed with the controversial ending, all anyone wants is fair play.
