The U16 team had a very good victory over Ilen Rover in the replay of the final on Sunday in Leap. All the players upped their performance from the drawn game and they gave a very good team display. We started well to lead at half time by 1-06pts. to 0-06pts. In the second half we controlled the game and went to win by 2-13pts to 0-12pts. Well done to the selectors and the team as they completed the clubs third win in finals over the last month. The team Finbarr Maguire, Ciaran O'Sullivan, David Whelton, Colin O'Driscoll, Chulann O'Neill, David Mc Carthy, Aidan Pearce, Ronan Walsh 0-01pts, Conor Cahalane 0-05pts, Patrick Bohane, Shane Kearney1-01pts, Ryan Foley 0-03pts, Jordan Cahalane, Cathal Maguire 1-03pts, Ryan Deasy. Subs: Liam Bohane, Rory Maguire, Daniel o Mahony, Michael McCarthy, Darren Seymour, Martin Hourihane, Mathew Limrick, Donal Hurley Tobin. Club members were disappointed that John Cleary was not picked to be the new manager of the Cork senior football team. John had done his apprenticeship at club and inter county level. He was selector/manager for the Cork U-21 team for 10 years, winning 8 Munster and 2 All Ireland titles during that time. The U21 management team have kept Kerry down for 10 years in Munster our main rivals. A lot of the counties that have won All Ireland U21 titles, have promoted their U21 manager to manage the senior team and gone on to win the All Ireland e.g. Jack O Connor (Kerry), Mickey Harte ( Tyrone ), Jim Galvin ( Dublin). The senior team were well beaten by Carbery Rangers in the league semi final in Rosscarbery on Saturday evening . We conceded two early goals and could never get back into the game. HT Score Ross 2-07pts., Haven 0-03 pts, FT Score Ross 3-13, Haven 1-7 pts. The team A Seymour ,S Collins ,T O'Leary, Darren Cahalane, J Davis, L Collins, P O Brien, D Hurley, M Collins 1-02pts, Shane Hurley, Stephen Hurley 0-01pts, E Dennehy, M Hurley 0-01pts. S Nolan 0-03pts, D Hegarty. Subs. Damien Cahalane, Darragh Cahalane, C Nolan. The club had a great day out on Tuesday at Reardens in Cork for the man of the match award. Congratulations to Brian Hurley who received the award for his brilliant display in the county final. The players got a great welcome from the national school children, when they visited the schools on Friday with the cup. The club had a good representation on the St Fachtna’s panel, who had a very good win over St Brendan’s in the Corn Ui Mhuiri .The players involved were C O'Driscoll, R Walsh, C Nolan, D McCarthy, P Bohane, M Hurley, C O'Sullivan, David Whelton, Aidan Pearce, Csaba O'Mahony, Finbarr Maguire.
