The Castlehaven senior team advanced to the semi final of the championship after an excellent win over a very good Valley Rovers team at Pairc Ui Chaoimh last Sunday evening . The game was played in gale force wind conditions which usually do not suite any team . Castlehaven had the elements for the first half but found it very difficult to break down the mass defence of Valley Rovers . Both sides were swapping points in the first half with Castlehaven leading by 2 points on the 30 min. Castlehaven needed a bigger lead for the second half and they got a brillant goal on the 31st min to lead at the half time break by Castlehaven 1-06pts to 0-04pts . Valley Rovers were excellent after the break scoring 4 points to cut the deficit to 1pt . Castlehaven needed the next score and they showed tremendous composure by kicking the next 4pts to lead again by 5pts . In fairness to Valleys they never gave up but Castlehaven played some excellent controlled football against the wind in the last 15 mins . Castlehaven went on to win by full time by 1-14pts to 0-10pts . It was another great win for this panel of players and management . It was our first win in the new Pairc Ui Chaoimh and now we look forward top the county semi final vs The Barrs on Sunday 14th
Ladies Football
The Castlehaven junior ladies welcomed Douglas to Moneyvollahane last Saturday evening in the county semi final.
Despite an early point by Douglas , Castlehaven then settled and tacked on the next few scores and with a Katie Cronin goal and led 1-04 to 1 point at the first half water break. The Haven ladies continued to dominate the second quarter with some excellent defence and with the midfield pairing of Siobhan and Alice controlling the play. A goal from Grainne O'Sullivan added to the scoreline. Castlehaven led at HT 2-05 to Douglas 0-02. The first half dominance proved to be decisive with both sides guilty of poor shot choices in the second half. Castlehaven ran out deserving winners on a scoreline of FT Haven 2-06 Douglas 0-04 . Castlehaven Ladies are now through to the Junior A County Final against The Dohenys on 14th November .

Castlehaven vs Ballinora on Sat 30th at Barryroe
Castlehaven u14 girls travelled to Barryroe to play Ballinora in the County final last Saturday .The Haven girls were beaten by the narrowest of margins, with Ballinora scoring a goal in the last kick of the game.Castlehaven took advantage of the breeze in the first half but Ballinora playing with a sweeper ,meant scores were hard earned ,and the Castlehaven girls led by a small margin of 0 6 to 1 1 at half time.
Castlehaven defended superbly in the third quarter and only conceded 2 points and so it was all to play for entering the final quarter, with Castlehaven leading by a point (0 7 to 1 4). In what was a dramatic last quarter Castlehaven got a goal with 30 seconds remaining to lead by 2 points .Ballinora were not finished yet though and with one final surge got a dramatic goal in the final play.Disappointing for the Castlehaven girls but a fantastic effort by all in a heart stopping contest.
