Castlehaven GAA Club lotto results: There was no winner of the jackpot last weekend when the numbers drawn were 11, 30 and 33. Consolation prizes were won by Elmer Nolan, John Collins and Charlie McCarthy.Tickets can be purchased online www.castlehavengaa.ie . Next week’s jackpot will be €2,000 on Monday 9th August. The Castlehaven senior team had a fine win over an excellent Newmarket side in the league 2 final on Sunday 1st. It was a very open game of football with both sides playing attacking football. The match was even early on with both sides scoring a goal. The score at the 1st half water break was 1-04pts each. Castlehaven hit a purple patch scoring two goals before half time. Half Time score Castlehaven 3-07pts to Newmarket 1-07pts. Both sides kept attacking with pace for the second half. Castlehaven finished strongly scoring a 4th goal to win Full Time Castlehaven 4-15pts Newmarket 1-14pts. Mark Collins was presented with the cup after the game. The Castlehaven U15 team played Kilmeen on Thursday 29th for their second game in the round robin championship . The game was played in very wet conditions. Castlehaven dominated from the start and had a comprehensive win. The Castlehaven minor team played Carrigaline in a league game on Wednesday 28th in Union Hall. Castlehaven were excellent in the first half to lead at half time by 2-06pts to 0-03pts. Castlehaven extended their lead after the break with a third goal. Both teams played attacking football in the first half. Castlehaven lead at half time 5-9 to 5-7. Physically stronger Canovee pulled away late in the game kicking some excellent scores Castlehaven panel. Castlehaven 5-14 Canovee 5-24. Jack O Neill and Jamie O Driscoll were excellent for the Cork minor team that defeated Kerry in the Munster championship. Congratulations to Jack Cahalane who won the Munster U20 championship. He completed the U20 double this year. Jack had no joy with the U20 footballers who were defeated by Offaly in the All Ireland semi final last Saturday. Conor Cahalane played wing forward for the senior hurlers who defeated Dublin in the All Ireland series. Ladies Football The Castlehaven Junior ladies enjoyed a fine win over O Donovan Rossa in the league last Sunday. The Haven had a fantastic start leading at the water break 4-02 to 0-03 The visitors has an excellent 2nd quarter to leave the HT score Haven 4- 04 O'Donovan Rossa 1-07. Haven regrouped at half time and enjoyed the majority of the possession in the second half. Haven took their scoring chances and also defended well. The two sides traded points in a close game. The Haven girls had some excellent passages of play with lovely accurate hand and kick passing. Castlehaven put excellent pressure on the Kinsale kickout which proved fruitful. Castlehaven took their goal chances and this proved decisive.
