Rowing News:
We want to send a massive thank you to all our volunteers who helped us pull off our duties at the Limerick Regatta and School's Regatta. It's an important fundraiser for us and without you all we simply couldn't have done it. We appreciate your help very much.
Just as importantly of course, well done to all our crews last weekend. We had some excellent racing with lots of crews getting into finals and we medalled a number of times;
- Ryan in the MJ18 1x.
- Ryan/Dylan MI 2x.
- Sarah/Nell WI2x
- The boys of the J15 8.
- Diarmuid/David MJ15 2x.
- Sheila in WM 1x.
Great job to all our crews & coaches. Great to finally get some racing under our belts.
Our next competitive regatta is this coming weekend (Saturday) - Lough Rynn Regatta. Best of luck to all our crews and coaches.
Social & Fundraising:
Coming up is the Great Limerick Run which kicks off on the bank holiday weekend. Many of us in the club will be competing and also marshalling the race, again raising much need funds for the club.
One week later we are planning to run our Robert Manning & Brennie Murphy sculling challenge. We’re putting the plans in place and will have full details next week. This event is hugely important for the club to not only bring racing to the city but to also remember and celebrate the lives of two former members taken from us all too soon.
Following on from that our Superstar Masters are just finalising the details for a fun packed quiz on Thursday May 17th in Shannon Rowing Club. Brain teasing questions, questionable answers, bumper raffle & spot prizes and the chance to have a few sociables too.
We’re well on our way in ‘Captain Richie’s €10K fundraising challenge’. We’re already approaching the €4 mark! Let’s keep up the outstanding work over the next few weeks.
Oh and there’s the little item of our trip to the British Schools Regatta at the London Olympic venue at Eton Dorney at the end of May. The logistics are almost done & we’re looking forward to taking the show on the road.
"I can’t thank the coaches, athletes, parents & volunteers enough for the great work to date. It’s very much appreciated!" says Captain Richie.
Email Captain Richie if you can help out at any of the events coming up.
