ALL COUNTY HURLING LEAGUE
The junior hurlers started their all county league campaign with a victory over Staker Wallace on Sunday evening in Kilteely. This game was played in very heavy ground conditions which made it difficult for both teams and the referee at times but credit to both sides as they competed well in an entertaining game. Kilteely Dromkeen led by three points at the half time break on a scoreline of 0-06 to 0-03. Christy O'Dea, Darren Murphy, John Ahern, and Conor Ahern all picked up scores from play in the first half while Denny Ahern pointed two frees.
Kilteely Dromkeen started the second half well with an early goal from Conor Ahern. Further goals followed from Kieran McCarthy and Philip Coffey as the lads took a commanding lead. Francie Stokes scored an excellent point followed by another from Christy O'Dea and a free from Denny Ahern. A late rally from Staker Wallace saw them net three goals and leave five points between the sides at the end of the game with a final scoreline of 3-09 to 3-04. Well done to players and management on a good victory. Next up in the all county league is Claughan.
