FEILE NA NGAEL 2013
Fčile na nGael 2013 has come and gone but the memories will stick with our players and everyone involved long into the future. We had a fantastic weekend of activity on and off the field and many friendships have been formed with our visitors from Letterkenny Gaels. We held an official welcoming for Letterkenny Gaels in Cill Bhride on Thursday evening where all the visiting players and mentors were introduced to their host families. On Friday afternoon, we hosted Letterkenny in our first group game in Kilteely GAA field. This was followed by the official Fčile parade which took place in Limerick on Friday evening departing from the Gaelic Grounds and finishing on O’Connell street. On Saturday morning, both teams travelled together by bus to Claughan to play the remaining group games against Oran of Roscommon and Claughan while on Saturday evening we had activities for all adults and kids at the school and the Teach in Cloverfield. On Sunday morning, the club held a joint hurling coaching session and match with Letterkenny Gaels in Kilteely GAA field before saying goodbye to our visitors on Sunday afternoon.
On the field, Letterkenny Gaels were deserving winners by a single goal over Kilteely on Friday afternoon. On Saturday, both teams defeated Claughan while both teams lost to Oran of Roscommon who went on to top the group and qualify for the semi-finals. Kilteely Dromkeen would like to congratulate Letterkenny Gaels on defeating both Limerick sides over the weekend, a great achievement. We would also like to commend our players who played with passion and skill all weekend and got their reward in the final group game with a great team display and convincing win over Claughan.
It took the efforts of many people to make the weekend possible and the club would like to thank Breda McCarthy who looked after the catering, the umpires and stewards who helped out on Friday, the host families for making our visitors feel welcome throughout the weekend, all of our volunteers who had the field in great order for the weekend, the juvenile club officers, Angela Murphy who was our Feile Co-Ordinator for the weekend, Valerie Greene who provided music on Saturday night, the team management, the coaches involved throughout the year and past number of years, our supporters who cheered on the players in the games, all the lads who helped organise the activities on Saturday evening, Letterkenny Gaels players, mentors, and officials who made the weekend a great success, and last but not least our players who represented the club superbly on and off the field over the weekend.
