U-14 HURLING
The U14 hurlers took on Blackrock in a challenge game on Wednesday evening in Kilfinnan ahead of their championship opener against Knockaderry this Sunday. The lads started well with two points from Brian O’Grady. Blackrock then got three goals in a row before Brian O’Grady got two more points and Sean McCarthy added a fifth for Kilteely Dromkeen. Before the break, Blackrock got their fourth goal and added two points to lead at half time on a scoreline of 4-02 to 0-05.
An early goal from Sean McCarthy in the second half gave us hope and Sean then added two points from frees. At the other end, the goals had stopped flowing for Blackrock as Shane O’Grady now operating at full back was playing exceptionally well. Blackrock did keep the scoreboard ticking over with three points before an excellent goal from Jack Hayes closed the gap again. Sean McCarthy scored a point from play to leave three points between the teams with minutes remaining. A late goal from Blackrock gave them a two goal victory on a scoreline of 5-05 to 2-08. It was a good game for our lads with a lot of positives ahead of the championship this weekend.
Panel: Eoghan O’Dea, Declan Kenny, Craig Hannon, Daniel Gleeson, Shane O’Grady, Josh Sheehan, Conor Egan, Sean McCarthy, Dylan Holmes, Brian O’Grady, Edward English, Jack Franklin, Jack Hayes, Christopher Lonergan, Andrew Lineham, David O’Connell, Darragh Curtin.
