JUNIOR HURLING
The junior hurlers played their first game of the season at home to Meelick of Clare on Saturday evening in Kilteely. The lads played with the wind in the first half and were able to build a strong lead. Darren Connery was moving well in the inside forward line and helped himself to three points. The half forward line of Darren Murphy, Paudie Ahern, and Christy O'Dea were all on the scoresheet. Denny Ahern chipped in with a few points from midfield while at the back Shane Smalle and Phillip Coffey were motoring well and delivering good ball to the forwards.
In the second half Meelick came into the game after an early goal from a 21 yard free. They added a couple of points before Liam Carroll goaled for Kilteely Dromkeen. Paudie Ahern and Darren Connery were on the scoreboard again in the second half with some good points before Barry O'Donnell added a second goal. Meelick had a late flourish at the end and scored 1-2 in the closing stages to leave a final score line of 2-13 to 2-06. It was a good performance by our lads for the first game of the season and considering a number of players were absent due to injury and exams.
