GAA Bits & Bobs:
In 1366 the Statues of Kilkenny made it illegal for members of the Anglo-Irish ruling class to playing hurling. The Statues were to prevent them “becoming more Irish than the Irish themselves.” Despite this the game flourished among the early landlords. They would organise matches between their tenants representing different baronies.
Groaner of the Week:
There was a big fan of a certain county. Now this county had very little success in the All Ireland over the years. However, in the year in question this county did make the All Ireland final. So this was a big deal for her.
Unfortunately, she hadn't expected them to make it to make it anywhere the final, so when she was planning her wedding she had picked that same spring afternoon.
Devastated as she realized she couldn't possibly do both, she resigned herself to making the difficult choice, the only choice, and posted on Facebook "If anyone would like to take my place this Saturday, 2 pm at St Mark's Church, let me know."

Brain Teasers:
Last week’s brain teaser was:
If you have a 7-minute hourglass and an 11-minute hourglass, how can you boil an egg in exactly 15 minutes? (It will be a very hard boiled egg!!)
Answer:
To boil the egg in exactly 15 minutes, follow these four steps.
- Start both hourglasses as you start boiling the egg.
- After the 7-minute hourglass runs out, turn it over to start it again.
- Four minutes later, when the 11-minute hourglass runs out, turn the 7-minute hourglass again.
- Wait for the 7-minute hourglass to run out, which will take another four minutes and get you to exactly 15 minutes of boiling time.
So there ya go. Simple!!
