The death of a true 'Gael'. The Newtown Blues would like to extend their condolences to the family and friends of Charlie McAllister who sadly passed away today, Tuesday 17th April. Charlie was a true gentleman and huge supporter of the GAA. He will be greatly missed on the sidelines of the Ireland, Louth and Blues matches. He went out on a high celebrating a Louth victory. Charlie's passion was to promote the GAA and we hope that we can continue on with his legacy. We were honoured to have Charlie associated with our club and the GAA will greatly miss his contributions. Charlie R.I.P.
Charlie is reposing in his house in Francis St. from 4pm on Wed. 18th April. Removal at 10.30am on Friday 20th to Our Lady of Lourdes Church for 11am mass. Burial takes place in St.Peter's Cemetery.

Thanks to all the cyclists that took to the road last Saturday 14th April to cycle to Thurles. Yet again we were lucky with the weather, sunny sky and the wind at our backs ensured that it was another great success. Thanks also to all the sponsors, support personnel and all that sponsored our cyclists making this another memorable year. This year was even more special as we celebrate 125 years. The destination this year was Hayes Hotel in Thurles where the GAA began. Well done to all and in particular thanks to McCloskey's Bakery, Sean Mooney, Cadbury for their donations and Quay's cycles for all their help and advice.
There was a great buzz in the club on Sat. morning with Sam Maguire Cup on show for all the children and adults. Thanks to all that helped out and made it a very enjoyable morning for all. There were some great photos, it's amazing the interest. Let's hope Louth brings it home sometime soon just as Charlie would like!!
