Congratulations
Congratulations to the Seniors O35s on Saturday, beating Killeshin 2-1 in the division 1 Cup semi-final. They opened the scoring on 18 minutes, following a clever ball in behind the home defence from Daniel O Brien, for Peter Kehoe to rifle home from close range. The lads doubled their advantage, when Mark Ryan was upended just outside the box and Daniel dispatched the resulting free to the top corner to lead 0-2 to put the lads into the final.
Final is next Saturday in St. Pats Boys pitch at 6 o'clock
Slaney U13`s Shared Eight Goals With New Oak
Super game of football with two evenly matched teams, as the U13`s shared eight goals with New Oak. The hosts took an early lead, before a super finish from captain Fionn Foley to level matters on 10 minutes. New Oak took the lead again and were denied a third by a fine save by Peter Lawlor to keep it 2-1. Slaney responded as Fionn turned provider, setting up Timmy Jackson for a close-range finish for 2-2. The hosts took the lead again for 3-2, before great combination build-up play between Kallan McCabe and Timmy Jackson with the latter firing home from close range for 3-3. Slaney, late in the game took a deserved lead, following another defence splitting pass from Fionn Foley, which set up Kallen to take the lead at 3-4, but despite Peter Lawlor making another fine save, the hosts responded with a late equaliser, to share the points.
