As there were no match three winners, €150 was shared between five lucky dips: Valerie Whyte, Garrettstown; Shirley Jackson, Hacketstown; Mary Donegan, Mountneill, Rathvilly; Evan Byrne, Woodgrove Avenue, Rathvilly and J C Son, 5 Bramble Court, Tullow. Promoter`s prize €20 was won by Michael Kehoe, Rathvilly Post Office.

Slaney Progress In Carlow Cup -The opening goal came following great battling from Robert Ryan to win back possession in midfield and a great cross from the left wing, found Conor O`Brien at the back post who fired home a super finish for 1- 0 on 42 minutes, to lead at half time. After the break, keeper Fergal Harmon claimed his third assist of the season, when his kick-out was gathered by Joe Thompson in his own half and following his charge up the left wing and cut back, he blasted home a fine individual effort for 2-0 on 69 minutes. To be fair to Pats, they never gave up the chase and reduced the arrears with a penalty, late on.

Seniors O35 Season Kicks Off - Slaney O35s returned to league action, after winning the 2nd division and getting promoted last season to the top division this year, they made a great start, by beating a very strong St. Pats side 2-0 in Rathvilly. After an even enough first quarter, the breakthrough came after some fine build-up play between Owen Coleman and Declan Jones, with the latter`s effort making it 1- 0, to lead at half-time. They doubled their lead midway in the second half, when the influential Coleman won back possession in midfield and found Declan Brennan in space, who picked up the ball on the edge of the box and he rifled an unstoppable shot to the top corner.

Slaney Exit Carlow Cup – Conceding two goals in five second half minutes earned neighbours Parkville a semi-final spot. Slaney fluffed a great chance on the stroke of half time, Joe Thompson and Rory McKernan combined to set up Lubohir Lesko, but he hit his effort straight at the keeper. Later on, Lubohir was involved again when Slaney scored, his flick from a Keith Slye throw-in put Daniel O`Brien through on goal and he picked his spot perfectly.

Slaney Team Of The Week. 25 – April 30TH - Goal Keeper: Fergal Harmon. Defence: Keith Slye, Mick Foley, Rob O`Neill, Joe Thompson. Midfield: Rory McKernan, Dominic Byrne, Robert Ryan. Forwards: Lubohir Lesko, Daniel O`Brien, Brandon Ryan. - Slaney Newsletter.
