Promoter`s prize Peg Kehoe. Last Saturday the U12`s took the plaudits from last weekend`s action as they defeated league leaders St. Patrick`s in their own back yard. They got off to a great start with Callum Brennan finding the net after only five minutes. The pace setters of the U12 league St. Pats worked their way back into the game with an equaliser on 15 minutes to leave matters level at half-time. Whatever the Slaney management team said during the break, did the trick as there was plenty of dogged defending after the interval backed up by some fine saves from keeper Dylan Hopkins to deny the leaders any further scores while at the other end, pressure was building on the home defence resulting in Callum Brennan pouncing on a poor clearance to take the lead. Late in the game Taylor Ryan scored his first goal of the season when he got on the end of a cross from Rory Doyle for 1-3. This was St. Pat`s first defeat of the season with Slaney moving to within three points of them in the league standings. Well done to all! Slaney Team of the Week (7): Dylan Hopkins.
