Slaney Rovers were crowned Division One champions following a hard-earned 2- nil victory over a resilient Kilree side in Rathvilly. The visitors forced the issue early on and should have scored from the penalty spot but hit the post. Both sides continued to play entertaining football until the breakthrough came on 76 minutes after great build-up play between Daniel O`Brien and Joe Thomson set up Dominic Byrne to blast home his 199 senior goal. Seanie Furlong put the icing on the cake when he scored in the last minute.Well done to all players involved and to the management team of Peter Kehoe, Mark Ryan and Lar Smith. The Over 35's kick off their league campaign with an away trip to Burrin Celtic on next Friday at 7pm.
