Down Ladies are now one game away from winning an All Ireland Junior Championship and with it, promotion back to Intermediate football, following their tough win over Carlow, last Sunday at Parnell Park, Dublin. Their opponents on the All Ireland final day will be Limerick. RGU wish our three Down players, Orla, Paige and Neva, all the best for the final. See social media for ticketing arrangements. Our senior men have won the last three league fixtures. The most recent was an away fixture to Glenn last Thursday evening 20th July. Always ahead the Hoops finished 10 points in front. Final score Glenn 0:10 RGU 1-17. RGU’s next fixture was last Monday 24th July at home to Castlewellan, and this resulted in another victory. RGU 2:18 Castlewellan 1:10. Next game is on Friday 28th away to Ballyholland. Let us hope the that we can continue the winning formula. Goals win matches and that was the case on Saturday night for the Senior Ladies. Despite dominating the game, they couldn’t close the gap. A late goal for Bryansford finally put the game to bed. Final score RGU 2:10 Bryansford 5:3. The minor boys will rue the multiple chances squandered as they lost by a single point at home to Carryduff on Friday in the U-17 Cup. The next match is away to Glenn on Monday 7th August. On Thursday we host two knockout competition matches for the U-15 boys as we entertain Teconnaught in the Cup and Castlewellan in the Plate. There was a great win for the U-13 boys, who claimed the Owen McEvoy Sevens Cup in Kilcoo. After coming through the group stages, they overcame Pearse Ogs from Armagh in the semi-final after extra time and then Liatroim in the final. Two people shared last week’s £100, Oonagh Hanlon and Conrad Walker. Next week’s Lotto Jackpot is £4800. Thanks to all who play our weekly Lotto.
