Downpatrick RGU’s wait for a first Senior Football Championship title since 1993 goes on after Clonduff booked their spot in the last four with a six-point victory at Pairc Esler on Sunday, 10th October. Despite a valiant effort from Aidan Robinson’s men, a second half goal from Clonduff’s Barry O’Hagan ensured his side wouldn’t be caught. RGU found themselves trailing by five points at the water break, but after the restart Jarlath Brannigan scored two points within minutes to close the gap. Further points from Conor Doherty and Captain Conor McGrady levelled the tie. Both teams scored further points to level the score at 0-8 each at half time. RGU’s Conor McGrady was unlucky not to find the back of the net minutes into the second half. Points from RGU’s Tim Prenter, Oran Cunningham and Jarlath Brannigan were not sufficient as Clonduff’s Barry O’Hagan whose tally in the game was 1-5, 3f along with teammate Arthur McConville whose tally was (0-5, 2f) eventually put the game beyond the RGU. While RGU exited the championship at this stage, they gave a great account of themselves during this year’s championship. This week’s numbers drawn by Roisin Polly were 2, 9, 22 and 25. There was no Jackpot winner, but one ticket matched three numbers. The lucky winner was Laura Holland. The jackpot is now £2000. Many thanks for your continued support.
