Down’s manager, Paddy Tally, said he was content with the exercise of giving six players their first league starts and two others their first opportunity at intercounty action. Those players were John O’Hare, Conor Clarke, Dylan Ward, Cormac McCartan and Ryan McEvoy got their first league starts, while Conoer McCrickard and Shealan Johnston came on as subs.
