In more club news, our Flynn Excavation sponsored Senior team lost their final league game against An Tochar on Sunday morning last. A sloppy goal just before half-time ended up being the difference between the teams with the Roundwood mes coming our 1-7 to 0-7 winners. Our lads lined out as follows; Enda Walshe; Colm Osborne, Liam Toomey, Ronan Conron; Michael Daly, Brendan Daly (0-1), Bill Flynn; Colm Toomey (0-1), Brian Lennon (0-2); Dermot Daly, Ray Halloran, Harry Mangan (0-1); John Hanbidge (0-2), Neil Stynes, Tommy Dwyer. Sub: Niall Curran.
Congratulations to Dermot Daly & Niall Curran who played their part in the success of our minor team progressing to the Minor "B" Football Final against St. Kevins. It has been a remarkable year for the St. Nicholas Club as a whole as practically every team in the juvenile club was involved in the later stages of their respective championships - well done to all!
Best of luck to Rory Toomey who is representing Dublin Bus against their New York counterparts in an Inter-firms Match Series in Gaelic Park, New York.
A monster auction in Donard Hall for the football field Development fund was a huge success. This was held on Saturday night with auctioneer John Doyle bringing in a lot of money in spite of the recession. A huge thanks to the Finance Committee under the direction of our Treasurer Sinead Doyle.
As they say, "all roads lead to Baltinglass" for the final of the Keating Trophy - effectively the Senior "B" Championship Final. Our lads have a great opportunity to bring home some silverware, but standing in their way will be a strong Hollywood team. Throw-in is at 7:45pm on Friday 24-Oct. Best of luck lads!
Congratulations also to our Camogie ladies who added the Senior Shield and Senior League titles to their Senior Championship title. Donard/Glen beat Ballinacor 3-6 to 1-0 in Avondale on Sunday 19-Oct making it a clean sweep in Wicklow this year. The team was; Suzanne Whelan, Andrea Kealy, Mary O’Neill, Colette Walshe, Lindsey Quinlan, Sinead Whyte, Dearbhla O’Byrne, Nora O’Neill, Clair Whelan (1-2), Geraldine Norton (0-3), Gemma O’Neill (1-0), Breda Walshe, Eve Whyte, Lynsey Walshe, Sile Whelan (0-1), Dawn Whyte, Karen Walshe (1-0), Mary Whelan, Amanda Butler and Mag Whelan.
