Celebrity
Chef, Club Tie & Dress Dance
The Celebrity Chef, Club Tie & Dress
Dance took place in the club on Saturday evening the 10th of April, and a great
time was had by all!All the gentlemen
of the club looked very smart in their club ties, and the ladies really turned
on the style!
Everyone was greeted with a glass of wine in
the bar on arrival, and then re- convened in the function room for the four-course
meal. The celebrity chef turned out to be Michael Duignan, retired Offaly
hurler and former Meath County hurling manager, currently a hurling commentator
for RTE. He was assisted in his culinary travails by our very own Gerry Giblin,
as they announced the menu for the evening!
After the delicious meal, we had a Question
& Answer session with Michael, where he fielded a number of searching
questions from the floor. We were then honoured to be joined by Taoiseach Brian
Cowan, former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, Michael Noonan TD, and bon viveur Michael
D. Higgins TD, all alter egos of Top comedian Alan Shortt, of Bull Island fame!
The evening was rounded off by a session song
and dance with smooth Entertainer Sean Boland, who had virtually everyone out
dancing at some point during the night! Congratulations and well done to Ray
Lawton and Ali Fitzgerald of the social committee, with special Thank You to
Dee O’ Connor for all her hard work!
