The 83rd AGM of St Maurs GAA club was held in the club on this Thursday the 12th of April where a large number of members attended.The following new officers and committee members were elected. Hon President Harry Rennicks, Vice Presidents Tony Bollard, Seamus Clerkin and Tom Ryan. Chairman Gerry Foley and Vice Chairman Owen Ginty. Hon Secretary Emma Fortune and Hon Treasurer Fergus Casey.
The New Committee members are Canice Reid, Joy Halpin, Geraldine Whelan, Amelia Gilligan, Brian Dennehy, Micheal Harford, Gerry Devine, Micheal Moore, Colm Leonard, Darragh Bollard, Robin Bollard. A Report was read out from the Juvenile Committee which represents 32 teams where the departure of our very popular GPO of several years Colm Crowley was announced and it was pointed out that he will be sadly missed. The Adult Committee Report pointed out the success the Club Teams competing at this level high lighted by the large number of players from the Club who are currently playing at inter County level and the promotion of the Senior Footballers to Division one for the first time in the Clubs history.
Well done to all who marched in the St. Patricks Day Parade and helped the Club to win the Club of the year award from the Rush Chamber of Commerce for their efforts.
Our U 9’s played away to St. Oliver Plunketts in Football on Saturday in what was a great display of skill and speed by both teams where our team one won by 5 points with great outfield play by Evan Carty and our team two won by 3 points after a great effort by Aaron Magee in goal.
The under 10s played at home against O'Dwyers. The Maroon team took the lead early in the match and held on to it until the final minutes when O'Dwyers scored and won by just two points. Man of the match was awarded to Aaron O'Reilly. The Gold team won by a very handsome margin and their man of the match was Conor Barry.
Maurs U11 Footballers won against Liffey Gaels at home with a score of 6-18 to 3-3 Our U12 Footballers won against St. Brigids at home after a great battling performance where they clocked up a score of 4 – 8 to 3 – 10.
Well done to our U14 girls footballers who won away on Friday night to St. Brigids where they clocked up a big score of 8 - 4 to 4 – 8.
Maurs U16 ladies footballers won away to Ballinteer St. Johns by a score of 10 – 7 to 3 – 2.
Our Adult Ladies footballers lost out to Clann Mhuire away on Wednesday night while the Ladies U 16 Footballers had a good win away to Ballinteer St. Johns winning 10 - 7 to 3 - 2
Maurs Adult Hurlers lost out at home to Cuala on Tuesday night by a score of 2-6 to 20pts Maurs Minor Footballers won against Fingallians 0 – 6 to 4 – 12 on Sunday.
