We had no winner of our Lotto Jackpot for €14,350 last Sunday night in Varley's Pub. We had four match 3 winners - Alan Bane (Eallagh), Eddie O'Sullivan, Thomas Mannion (Mirehill), APR (c/o Angler's Rest Hotel). Promoter's prize went to Eric Flynn. Our u-21's are through to the North Board Semi-Final after a 2-11 to 1-3 victory away to Monivea/Abbey last Saturday. In contrast to our first round game the weather conditions were terrible for football, that being said the pitch in Monivea was in fantastic condition. We played the first half against an extremely strong breeze, despite this we dominated the early exchanges and lead midway through the half 0-3 to 0-1. Monivea started to get a grip on the game towards half time and scored 1-2 without reply to see them lead 1-3 to 0-3 at the break. With scores at a premium it was far from certain the advantage of the wind in the second half would see us through. However, we started the second half brightly with a goal from Richard Fahy setup by Cathal Newell. Stephen Monaghan scored his second point of the day minutes later put 1-5 to 1-3 up with 20 minutes remaining. A second goal closely followed by a point from Fahy once more effectively killed off the game with 15 minutes to go as we took full advantage of the conditions and held Monivea scoreless for the second period. Best for us were Fergal Carey at midfield, Dylan Corbett at centre back and Richard Fahy at centre forward. A good all round team performance as we now advance to a semi-final which is yet to be fixed. Thanks to all who travelled and supported the team.
