We had no winner of our Lotto Jackpot for €11,800 last Sunday night in Keady's. We had one match 3 winners - Declan Murphy, Kilbeg. Numbers drawn were 6-8-28-29. Promoter's prize went to John Newell. Next week's draw will be for €11,950 and will be in Ted McHugh's on Sunday night. A disappointing result in Ballygar on Sunday means that our Intermediates did not manage to qualify for the Division 4 league final. A one point defeat to the home team who were fighting for their status in the division means that we finish in third position, promoting us to Division 3 for 2015 however. The game was tight throughout but two goals from Alan Meenaghan early in the second half looked like it would propel us to victory but a combination of extremely questionable refereeing, missed chances and a Ballygar fightback saw them over the line. Best for us on the day were Alan Meenaghan, Eoin McHugh and Shane Walsh.

All of this means that our senior action is over for 2014. Looking back its been a good year for the club as we built on the success of last year, getting to a Championship quarter-final, winning the Cahill Cup (our first trophy at Intermediate level), getting promoted in the league as well as our Junior B team winning Division 6. Thanks to the players, management and supporters who have followed both teams throughout the year. Congrats and well done to Tom Corbett and Ger & Kevin Lee involved with the Galway Masters who have completed a three in a row of All-Ireland Titles with a one point win over Mayo in atrocious conditions in Clonberne last Saturday. It truly is an amazing achievement and one the club is very proud to be a part of. Our U15s played out an exciting draw in the league final vs Menlough in Caherlistrane this morning. We got off to a great start with Cathal Roddy scoring a fine point from play right from the throw in. However Menlough were to dominate the next 10 minutes and scored 2 03 without reply. We then dug deep and Cathal Roddy, Mikey O Brien, Darren Higgins and William Moggan started to dominate the middle sector which saw us score 5 points without reply through Mike O Brien(3) and Sean Monaghan(2). Menlough then broke upfield to score another goal and put 6 between the teams again but in the last 5 minutes we scored 5 points again from Mike O Brien(3), Alan Toher and Eoghan Halloran a point each. Menlough got the first point of the second half to open a 2 point gap but 3 unanswered points from Mike O Brien(2) and Sean Monaghan(1) saw us a point up half way through the second half. Menlough responded with 2 points before Eoghan Halloran levelled again from play. Menlough were to take the lead twice more but each time we replied with a point from play through Sean Monaghan and Alan Toher to level again. Menlough then had a chance to win the game with the last kick of the game from a 30 yard free but the ball hit the upright. We move on to a replay probably next Sunday at a time and venue to be confirmed. Apart from the first 10 minutes this was an outstanding team display and hopefully we can build on that for the replay.
