Intermediates play Oranmore/Maree on Saturday at 6pm in Headford. After a draw and a loss in our opening games, a win is very important.
U-19s had an excellent win over neighbours Caherlistrane in the league away last week. We started well and after an early home score we responded with a Brian Walsh goal. But we struggled for the rest of the of the half against a strong breeze and our defence was breached on numerous occasions as we finished the half behind after giving away three goals. The second half was a different affair with our full forward line coming to the fore and making full use of the wind advantage. Sean Birmingham and Mark Earnor were top class as we reeled our opponents in and Brian Walsh put the the Caherlistrane defensive rear guard on the backfoot time after time. In the end we had too much firepower and closed out the game with some accurate scores.
U-15’s played Annaghdown at home yesterday evening.
PCH 1st years lost their Connacht semi final to a very strong Calasantius, Oranmore team on Thursday in Annaghdown. With Oranmore/Maree extremely strong round this age group, the local secondary school is reaping the benefits.
The Juveniles had a brilliant win over neighbours Ballinrobe Community School in their Connacht semi final in Glencorrib. After leading by three points at half time, they found themselves trailing by three points in the second half against the wind. However they showed great resolve to turn it around and win 3-12 to 2-12. They play St Nathy’s, Ballaghderreen in the final tomorrow, Thursday, in Bekan at 12.30pm. Best of luck to them.
