Our Intermediate league game with Ballinasloe has been re-scheduled for this Friday after it was postponed last Saturday due to a death in the Ballinasloe area.THe Junior squad had a tough day in Oranmore last Monday when they were comprehensively beaten by the home side in the league which makes it 2 losses from 2 games.
Our Minors had a good win over Clonbur in the league last week. We played with a strong wind in the first half and we made full use of it going in at half time 2-8 to 0-2 up. Our two goals coming from Mikey O'Brien. Two great saves from Daire Doherty just before half time were crucial to keep a bit of daylight between the teams at the break. We got some fine team scores in the second half as we pushed on to claim a convincing win on a scoreline of 2-18 to 1-5. We had some very strong performances all around the pitch William Moggan at wing back who chipped in with two great points, Geoffrey Crobett was very solid at center back, Conor O'Malley in midfield was dominant and up front we looked dangerous with Eoghan Holleran working tirelessly all game. This was our final league game, we are now waiting on other results to see if we have done enough to earn a place in the league final.
The u-16s qualified for the league final last Tuesday as St. James' were unable to field a team and conceded the points. This means Headford finish top of the table having taken maximum points from all their games and will play second placed Oranmore/Maree in the final in the coming weeks. Details of that fixture will be announced shortly, keep an eye on this page for details.
Our u-12s had a great win in Dunmore last Thursday.
Our boys played unbelievably well, with grit and determination , and have
now secured a place in the finals of the newly formed league, and
James O'toole memorial trophy.
The final is to be played in Dunmore on Sunday May 15th against Caherlistrane and promises to be a great game.
