We had no winner of our Lotto Jackpot for €8,450 last Sunday night in Ted McHugh's. We had one match 3 winner of €150 - Brian Loftus (Windfort). Numbers drawn were 5-11-20-22. Promoter's prize went to Ronan Keady. Next week's draw will be for €8,600 and will be in the Thatch Bar on Sunday night. Our u-21's are through to the North Board Semi-Final after a hard fought 1-11 to 2-5 victory. We started brightly and went into a 0-3 lead early with frees from Niall Cunningham and Cathal Newell, before Oranmore found their feet and scored a rocket of a goal. Midway through the half we trailed 1-2 to 0-4, but we took control from their to the break, scoring 1-3 without reply. The goal was a well worked score setup by Dylan Corbett and blasted to the net by Niall Cunningham. The second half was a far more scrappy affair with both sides struggling for scores. 2 frees from Cathal Newell added to points from cousins Mikey & James O'Brien is all we could muster in the second period. Well done to the lads who withstood a late Oranmore/Maree fightback. Best for us were Aaron McDonagh, Mikey O'Brien, Daniel Garvey and Darren Moran.
We now play the winners of Claregalway & Mountbellew/Moylough in 2 weeks time.
We have drawn to play Kilkerrin/Clonberne in the first round of the Intermediate Championship, which is down to be played on the weekend of the 14/15th of May.
The u-13s are fixed to play Kilkerrin/Clonberne in their opening league game this Sunday at 11am in Clonberne.
Our club social will take place this Saturday the 20th of February in the Claregalway Hotel where we will be celebrating two very special teams. 2016 marks the Golden Jubilee of the 1966 County Junior Championship winning team and their achievement will be commemorated at the social. 2015 was special for the club as the u-21s took home a first County title at the grade since 1998.They will collect their North Board and County medals on the night. The club is asking anyone that has photos of the 1966 County Final winning team to contact Ronan Biggins (086) 833 1733 or Tommie Bane as we'd like to display them on the night. Entertainment will be provided by local star musician Don Stiffe. Tickets are €30 and are now available from Tommie Bane (087)9562511, they will also be on sale in the clubhouse this Wednesday at 8pm.
Thanks to all who have bought tickets for the National Club draw from our members. 100% of the proceeds go directly into the running of the club for the coming year and beyond. The draw takes place on Friday March 11th, best of luck to all. Our sympathy to the Biggins family on the passing of Kieran, may he Rest in Peace.
