News/Reports: The Under 15s had a good win over Oranmore C in Division 3 on Tuesday last. This leaves them with 4 points from 2 games. They have a bye in the next round and then play Claregalway around the 20th May.
St Michaels’ Senior team put in a fine spirited performance on Saturday last in Oughterard, only to come up short by 2 points. After a sluggish start, Michaels’ rallied to be just 4 points (1-11 to 1-07) down at the break. They led briefly midway through the 2nd half, but a series of errors, black card & dodgy decisions saw them eventually lose out by 2-17 to 3-12. The basic dinosaurian stats’ say the home team had 57% of the shots, 4 wides to 1, two x 2-pointers to one and no arguments with the result. The positives to be taken from the game were good fighting spirit and lots of minutes into young men who are grabbing the opportunities with both hands. Next up is a home game to Claregalway in 2 weeks time. Team: S. Daly, C. Meagher, B. Madden & S. Kerr. J. Browne, JD Boyle & E. Kerin (1-0). G. Summerville (1-0) & D. Cunnane. D. O’ Malley, J. Summerville (0-1) & D. McGovern (0-1). G. Higgins (0-5(1f, 1x45,1x2-pointer), E. Coffee (0-2) & K. Campbell (1-02). Subs: D. Sinton (0-1), G. Mealley, F. Cruise, E. Hoare & B. Harlowe.
The Juniors despite going down the N17 feeling somewhat depleted through injuries, exams & unavailability, deliverd a sterling performance filled with spirit to get within a point of Tuam Stars in their home patch on Sunday. Youngsters Sean Butler, Kane Campbell, James Coyle, Maitiu O Toole & Eoghan Harlowe were the eye catchers on the day. Of course the youths were assisted in no small way by Gregory, Jamie & Edward who had a combined age in excess of the 6 youngest. Next up for them is a home game against Williamstown in a fortnight. Team: G. Rogan (0-02f), J. Browne, J. Downes & M. O’ Toole. E. Harlowe, JD Boyle & J. Coyle. G. Mealley & D. Sinton. K. Campbell (0-07(2x2pts & 1f), D. Thornton & C. Tummon. A. Ryan, E. Hoare & S.Butler (0-04). Subs: D. Flaherty-Shaw & L. McCarthy.
