St Michaels’ Seniors were defeated by Tuam Stars in Division 1 of the League on Saturday last in Westside on a score-line of 1-12 to 3-22. Tuam came to town on a mission and with a Campionship look to their line-out, they extended their 4 point half time lead (1-09 to 3-07) with a clinical second half performance, where they outscored the home team by 15 points to 3. Michaels’ management can take plenty of positives from the occasion, with so many debutantes performing admirably on the day, and Gary Higgins bombing over two-pointers for fun. Team: G. Rogan, J. Browne, C. Meagher & S. Kerr. J. Boyle, B. Madden & E. Kerin. C. Gallagher (1-0) & G. Summerville. D. O’Malley (0-2), J. Summerville (0-1) & R. McGiolla Rí. G. Higgins (0-8), E. Coffee (0-1) & C. Cloherty. Subs: J. Keenan, M. Fogarty, C. McNeill, E. Hoare & K. Campbell. Their next outing is away to Salthill the weekend after next. Special thanks to the Pitch-Lining committee who had the pitch impeccably marked. Also to catering committee who fed & watered players, officials & supporters after the game.
Our Junior Mens’ team is down to play Kilkerrin – Clonberne on Saturday next at 5pm.
A reminder to all management teams to be really security conscious for opening, during & closing of Clubhouse for matches & training sessions alike. Don’t get locked inside the Clubhouse or yard, adopt a clean-as-you-go policy in the Clubhouse & Dressing Rooms and ensure all showers, heating and lights are in the Off position.
The Club Banner is one item on the missing list and there is also a rumour that a certain underage management are hoping that Pickles might be re-incarnated in the Westside in the not too distant future.
