Connaught Championship Intermediate Club Semi-Final: Crossmolina Deel Rovers 2-13 – St Michaels’ 1-07.

News: Fielding four weeks in a row proved to be a bridge too far for a gallant St Michaels’ team who lost out to the Mayo Champions by 2-13 to 1-07 in Castlebar on Saturday last. Crossmolina were quickest out of the blocks and had raced into a 2-2 to 1 point lead within the first eleven minutes. Michaels’ then rallied and took a one point lead on the 25th minute and it was “Game On”. Then for some inexplicable reason, the referee & his umpires saw fit to brandish a red card at Gary Higgins and now St Michaels’ had to face the second half with 14 men. Having gone into the game without 4 first team starters, lining out for the 4th week in a row, and a man down for the 2nd half would see that Michaels’ were out-scored ten points to zero in that 30 minute period. The 20 players that lined out gave their all on the day, and indeed it is now time for the entire panel & management to properly savour what they achieved a week earlier when they won the County Title and regained their senior status.

Special thanks to all who donated so generously to the recent Pop-Up iDonate fundraiser organised by the Club in conjunction with their Connaught campaign. The initiative yielded a handsome sum in excess of €6,700.00. Mile Buiochas to all.
Weekly Draw: Numbers drawn in this week's Peter Curran Electric Draw were 03-12-16-19. There was no winner of the jackpot. Damian O Brien c/o St Michaels’ GAA Lotto Online @ Clubforce, Shane Cahill c/o John Kenny @ St Michaels’ GAA Supporters’ Club and Gay Curley c/o Helen @ McGinn’s Hophouse shared the Match 3 Prize.
