News:  Congratulations to St Michaels’ Under 15 girls Grace and Ciara Coyle who assisted Galway in defeating Cavan in the All Ireland Platinum Final two weeks ago. They will be assisting their Club this week when St Michaels’ will represent Galway at the Féile. This National event is taking place in Coralstown, Kinnegad. Tom McDonnell, Lucy Flaherty & Eileen Coyle are the “drivers” of this great squad and all support for players & management would be most welcome. First game for St Michaels’ in their group is 11am on Saturday June 29th.

The Ladies’ Club is endeavouring to get an adult Ladies team going and have training on Mondays at 7:30 pm. All players welcome.

St Michaels’ Intermediate men suffered a defeat against Corofin Seniors in the Division 1 League semi-final on Monday evening at Corofin. The boys in blue performed admirably in the first half, and had they been a bit more economical in front of goal they could have gone in at half time closer than 8 points to 5 for the home side. The third quarter saw St Michaels’ continue to be competitive and carry the game to Corofin with the score board reading 1-09 to 0-09 with fifteen minutes to go. Then a combination of Corofin going more direct and St Michaels’ reduced to 14 players saw the home side outscore us by 1-06 to a point in the fourth quarter. Final Score: Corofin 2-15 – St Michaels’ 0-10. Team: S. Daly, S. Kerr, B. Madden & J. Browne. E. Fiorentini, S. Maloney & E. Kerin. D. Hurley & F. Daly (0-1). G. Summerville (0-2), E. Brannigan (0-2) & E. Day. C. Gallagher (0-1), D. Cunnane & B. Harlowe (0-5(4f). Subs: D. O’ Malley,  D. McGovern, M. Maguire & R. Coffee.

The Juniors made heavy weather of defeating a limited enough Loughrea outfit  in the quarter final on Sunday last. Scorers were: N. Ward (1-01), E. Coffee (0-4(3f), M. Maguire (0-2(1f), A. Ryan(0-2), D. Connaughton (0-1), J. Summerville (0-1) & D. Sinton (0-1 (45). Next up is a home semi-final against Ballinasloe on Wednesday evening (tomorrow) in The Westside.

The Boys Under 17 Minor Championship will commence this Friday  (30th June) and St Michaels’ will get their campaign under way at home to Oranmore.
