News:  Pride of place this week goes to the Ladies Club.  A superb St Michaels Under 15 girls panel, were crowned Division 2 Feile County Champions on Sunday, in Ballinasloe. In beautiful sunshine and decked out in their generously sponsored, Peter Curran Electric kit, the girls topped their group on Saturday in Headford, accounting for St Furseys, Oughterard and Gráinne Mhaols before beating Loughrea in the Semi-Final. The followed up Saturday’s heroics with Sunday’s superb victory over Ballinasloe. The strength and depth of the panel was required, due to the tournament nature of the Feile, with all players, playing their part in the club’s success.

Panel: D. Todosi, N. O’ Brien, T. Simon, L. Stone. MJ O’ Flaherty, C. Coyle, N. O’ Malley, A. Butler, S. Carr, A. McNeill, O. Costello, G. Coyle, J. O’ Connor, K. McDonnell, A. Fiorentini, E. Keenan, E. MsEvoy, E. Carr, R.H. Ward, H. Flanagan, S. Keane & M. Cooke: Management: T. McDonnell, L. O’ Flaherty, E. Coyle & R. Hourihane.

The club would like to congratulate the players and management on this success and extend best wishes to the Coyle twins, Ciara and Grace, who are part of the Galway u14s, in championship action this weekend. Both girls were an integral part of the Feile weekend heroics.

The Intermediates had a good honest 1-11 to 11 point victory away to Clategalway on Thursday evening last. Michaels’ led 8 points to 1 at the interval and the half time debate was whether 7 points was enough of a lead to carry “up the hill” for the second half. Michaels’ scored 1-03 playing in this direction as opposed to their host’s solitary point and this is probably where the game was won & lost. Their next game will be at home to Mountbellew on the weekend of the 10th May. Team: S. Daly, S. Kerr (0-1), B. Madden & C. Meagher. F. Cruise (1-0), S. Maloney & E. Kerin (0-1). D. McGovern & E. O’ Donnell (0-1). G. Summerville, E. Brannigan (0-3) & E. Day (0-2). G. Higgins (0-3(1f), D. Cunnane & D. Nordon. Subs: D. Sinton, J. Summerville, D. Thornton, D. O’ Malley & S. O’ Reilly. Míle Buiochas to Colm, Sean, Con, Mary & Terry who combined to get a car with a dead battery moving afterwards.

The Juniors defeated Na Piarsaigh by 4-15 to 2-10 and despatched their rivals back to Letterfrack without even a sandwich made up from the scraps left over at the Mayoral Charity ball. Team: B. Sheridan, L. Brannigan, J. Downes (0-1) yes...he did! & C. Keane. R. Mac Giolla Rí (2-0), C. Meagher & F. Cruise. D. Sinton (0-2) & S. O’ Reilly (0-4). M. Maguire (0-2), D. Thornton (1-0) & C. Morley. G. Mealley (1-0), P. McTigue (0-1) & E. Coffee (0-5(4f). Subs: N. Ward, D. Flaherty-Shaw, M. Caffrey, C. Horan & C. McNeill.
