Senior Championship Preliminary Quarter Final: St Michaels v Qualifier at Duggan Park Ballinasloe on Monday 02nd October at 8pm. (To be confirmed)
Summary: St Michaels’ Junior A team made history for the Club on Saturday last when they won the North Board Junior A title for the first time (won North Intermediate title in 1985) after they defeated Glinsk by 1-12 to 0-11 at Tuam Stadium on. Michaels’ played with the wind and the rain in the first half and were so slow out of the traps, that their first shot at the target was a wide ball registered in the 18th minute. They went in at half time a point up (4 points to 3), ground out a 9 point a-piece draw at full time, and showed great power, drive, passion and guile in extracting a victory from this enthralling encounter in extra time. Paddy McTigue being dragged down and Gregory converting the resultant penalty is what put the daylight between the sides. They will now play Carraroe in the County Final. Team: M. Walsh, L. The Under 17s play the Shield Final against Annaghdown on Sunday morning next at 11am. Linesmen, Umpires, Supporters, Breakfast-Roll Eaters, Coffee-Slurpers all more than welcome and greatly appreciated.
Football Board: You may have noticed by now, that the Galway Football Board have launched a fundraising initiative in the guise of a limited draw to “Win a Home” at a cost of €100.00 per ticket, limited to 20,000 tickets. We are asking all of our members and sponsors who may be considering the purchase of a ticket(s), to buy them through our Club. St Michaels’ have received an allocation to distribute in return for some discount on Board costs in 2024. . Training times will remain as they have been into the Autumn for as long as daylight allows.
Numbers drawn in this week’s Peter Curran Electric St Michaels’ GAA Club Draw were: 01-03-07-19. There was no winner of the Jackpot.
