Summary: St Michaels’ Under 17 team matched their host’s (Corofin) scoring of 2-05 in the second half of their quarter final away to Corofin, but the little matter of not turning up for the first half and giving any opponent a 2-05 cushion can be so costly. Eanna Coffee & Cormac Keady scored the goals. They now play Dunmore Sunday week (17th September) in Westside in the Shield Semi-Final.
Best of luck to the 2 adult mens teams in action for the Club over the weekend. The Junior As play Monivea-Abbey in the North Board Semi-Final at the Westside on Saturday evening. Then on Sunday, all eyes will be on the Senior team who play Claregalway in what is Round 4 of the Group. A win will put the lads into 2nd position in the group.
Football Board: You may have noticed by now, that the Galway Football Board have launched a fundraising initiative in the guise of a limited draw for an apartment at a cost of €100.00 per ticket, limited to 20,000. We are asking all of our members and sponsors who may be considering the purchase of a ticket(s), to buy them through our Club. St Michaels’ have received an allocation to distribute, so anyone purchasing may do so by contacting the Club Treasurer, Eamonn Smyth at 087 6461305.
A little note on Housekeeping! The cost of Electricity has continued at the rather inflated rate and lights being left on overnight in the Clubhouse as happened recently are no help to our finances. Also, if whoever is obstructing the envelope slot in our Lotto Case at the Clubhouse, could refrain from same, it would be greatly appreciated. There is a huge loss to our valued income stream at this location, and we will end up having to put it into storage alongside the Coat-hanger unit in the kitchen.
Training program for week:
Wednesday: 7.00-8.00 (juvenile pitch): U16 Girls, 7.00-8.30 (main pitch): Adult men
Thursday: 6.00-7.00 U14/U12/U10/U8/U6
Friday: 5.30-7.00: Minor boys
Sunday: 11.00-12.30: U11/U10/U8/U6 boys academy
The Cub donated Training Tops to all of the Juvenile Coaching Staff and by all accounts, Trainings, Blitzes, Matches all have a much more professional & uniformed look about them. Well done all!!
Training times will remain as they have been into the Autumn for as long as daylight allows.
