Torch
The Torch mobile arrived in Rearcross on Saturday evening last to a fantastic united Sean Treacy welcome. Our past Chairman and Life President Mick Caplis joined with his successor Pat Stapleton present Chairman to embrace the glowing torch. The Treacy crowd of a few hundred paraded the Cusack torch through the beautiful village held aloft by past and present players, club officers and proud supporters. The sea of blue and gold continued the journey through the parish to our GAA pitch at Kilcommon Cross past our new development. What we had received from Newport we handed over to Upperchurch the emblem of Michael Cusack’s journey in 1884 from his home in Co Clare to Hayes Hotel in Thurles. What he founded with his contemporaries is alive and well in Sean Treacys and who knows what we will have achieved in the next twenty five years.

Our Cul Camp was held last week in Rearcross, with this year’s attendance of 73 children. Well done to Eddie Spillane who again excelled himself with his brilliant coordinating skills that insured the smooth running of the event from start to finish. Our Club would like to thank our coaches, Seanie Johnston Head Coach, Siobhan O Neil, Clare Ryan, Seanie O Neil, John OKeffe, Brian Fox, James Barry, and Michael Doyle. Thanks to Tipperary’s Shane McGrath and Seamus Callanan for making it the highlight of the week for the kids. Thanks to Mike and Bridget Ryan for catering, Kathleen Fahey and Paula Lite who supervised the kids at break times and a big thanks to Rearcross Soccer Club for providing us with their facilities to hold the event this year.
