West Junior B Football Sean Treacys 0-9 v Emly 0-6 29th May 09 This well attended entertaining tie kicked off with an excellent move finishing with a Declan O'Toole point for Treacys in the second minute. Sean Kennedy followed with a point in the fourth as the O'Toole show continued Treacys had a five point lead by the first quarter. Emly opened their scoring in the fourteenth minute with a free by wing forward Patrick McGrath. Paudie Carey made sure that Treacys were five up at half time finishing a solo with a score. Philly Purcell summed up Emly's first half hitting the upright on the stroke of half time. So six one going into the second half and Emly took over from fourteen man Treacys with four unanswered points. First up was Philly Purcell in the first move of the half then Dawson got a point followed by a 45 in the sixteenth. Treacys reacted by introducing PJ Loughie and moving Sean Kennedy to the edge of the square all to good effect. The next score was worth the trip to Cappa as Karol Burke took a Brian Dooher like score from the wing after a creative bit of football from Emly. Treacys woke up and scored three points in the last ten minutes starting with Sean Kennedy scoring from play again and followed with a point from Treacys second penalty. The finale presented a point from each side with a win for Treacys and Emly going back to the drawing board. Best for Treacys were Shane Reynolds Simon Kennedy the Tooles and sub PJ Loughie while for the gallant losers Karol Burke Liam Burke Eanna Quish Tom Dawson and Patrick McGrath did best over the hour.
