We played Cashel King Cormacs in the west semi-final on Saturday 15th August Clonoulty. Cashel were posting impressive results as they finished their group stage top of group 1 however we took the upper-hand early on in this game with 2 goals from the ageless Oliver Carr. These scores were crucial as Cashel were finding the posts with more ease but our full back line was on top in the danger area. We were dealt a blow with the substitution through injury of dominant centre back Joey Ryan. We led by a point at the break however Cashel were not about to lie down and applied sustained pressure throughout the 3rd quarter but the half back line of Ger Egan, Sean Kennedy & Pat Hickey got on top and rebutted the attacks with aplomb. In a frantic finish to the game which saw numbers reduced on both sides we held on and qualified for our first west final in the grade since 2005 where we will renew acquaintances with Eire Og Annacarty. The team lined out as follows: Seamus Butler, Mark Hogan, Seamus Costello, Kevin Ryan, Ger Egan, Joey Ryan, Pat Hickey, Liam Nolan, Ger O’Toole, Mikey Hayes, Sean Quigley, Sean Kennedy, Damien Nolan, Oliver Carr, Joe Carey. Subs used: William Ryan, Tommy Lyons, Ger Gilmartin, Paudie Carr, Liam Ryan Minor Hurling
We received a walkover in the west minor A hurling championship from Rockwell/Rosegreen. Our next game is fixed for Wednesday 19th at 6.30pm in Kilcommon against Arravale Rovers/Eire Og Annacarty.
