Senior Football
O Gara Cup
Our Kilduff Construction sponsored team continued their unbeaten run on Friday evening as we beat a stubborn St Michaels team up north. We started off on a bright note with Cian Kelly making an incisive run through the heart of the Michaels defence before playing a one two with Camin Boland before finishing low to the net after 3 minutes. Caimin Boland adding another point from a mark a few minutes later. The teams were even enough for the rest of the half with Dominics adding 2 more goals, but each time pegged back by Michaels adding scores of their own. Half time Dominics 3.02 to 0.09. Half time seen the introduction of Keith Doyle into the contest, and he certainly was the standout performer in the half added 4 long range points to keep Michaels at bay. Best for us on the day was Cian Kelly, Camin Boland, Keith Doyle and James Miley. Full time score was St Dominics 3.09 To 0.14
Team C Fallon, R Dempsey, S Kenny, E Connaughton, P Tiernan, J Lohan (.01), D Gately, R Gately, MJ O’Connor, R Owens (.01), C Kelly (1.01), J Miley, C Boland (1.02), M Watson, C Feerick (1.00). Subs: D O’Brien, J Fagan, K Doyle (.04)
Tansey Cup
Our Warm n Cosy Homes sponsored second team returned to winning ways after beating St Ronan’s in Knockcroghery on Saturday evening. The match was very competitive in the 1sthalf with the team’s going level in at the break at 5 points at apiece. We made a quick start to the 2nd half with Cian Kelly helping himself to 2 points and Camin Boland adding another point. This was short lived as St Ronan’s scored a goal to bring the game level after 15 min. However, unlike in last week’s game, we finished the game strongly with 3 points on the bounce. We defended well in the last 5 min to protect our lead, in particular Danny O’Brien who won 2 important turnovers to get the job done. Best for us on the day was Evan Donnelly in goals, Jack O’Beirne in defence and Danny O’Brien, Cian Kelly and Camin Boland up front. Full time score was St Dominis 0.12 to 1.06
Team E Donnelly, B Sherriff, S Kenny, J O’Beirne, P Tiernan, K Feerick, R Owens, R Gately, MJ O’Connor (.01), S Kilcline, C Kelly (.04), D O’Brien, G Keenan (.01), L Giles (.01) C Boland (.05).
Sub used M Beirne, B Gately
