On the sports front our U/21 footballers failed in their bid to reach
the west semi final with Rockwell comfortably defeating Eire Og last Wednesday
night. They now concentrate on the U/21 hurling championship. Last weekend a
mixture of U/21’s and juniors played a challenge match against the Arravale
Rovers intermediate hurling team. This turned to be an excellent game for both
sides with Golden recording a late victory by three points. Our U/21 hurling
team now might possibly be out in championship this Wednesday night, St Patrick’s
Day, or the following Saturday evening against a combo of Emly/Sololhead
The senior hurling panel are still training away under new
trainer Barney Loughnane.
This weekend they are not training Friday night but instead
travel to Borrisokane Saturday at four to face Lorrha in a challenge match.
They then will have training as normal Sunday morning at 10.30am.
