On the sports front

Our Senior Footballers had a super win last Saturday below in Cahir when they defeated Kilsheelan in the County League Semi final on a scoreline of 0-11 to 0-09. Due to a large number of injuries Golden had only the bare 15 players to start the match and certainly the signs looked ominous as Kilsheelan raced into an early three point lead against the wind. But the lads responded magnificently with Sean Carr, Shane Stapelton and newcomer Kenneth Burke leading the way backed by some terrific defending from the back. But at half time Golden were three points down and were kicking into the wind. Early in the second half things looked even bleaker for Golden when Michael Harding was shown a straight red card. But to be fair to the Golden lads, three points down and with 14 men against the breeze they showed terrific heart to pull themselves back into the game. All over the field they took the game to Kilsheelan and with late scores from Shane and Sean again they pulled out a two point victory. Great credit is due to the lads, they now play cappawhite in the  County League final in two weeks time.

Great credit also to clubman James Tierney who has starred in recent weeks for the Tipperary Footballers who are upsetting all the odds in Division Three and top the table ahead of teams like Down, Limerick, Offaly and Roscommon. If they defeat Louth in Semple stadium on Sunday they will gain promotion to division two which would be an outstanding achievement. James has starred in all the Tipp games so far and we wish him and the team all the best for the weekend.

Next weekend our senior hurlers continue thier involvement in the senior hurling county league when they play
Carrick Swans in Golden on Sunday at 2.30. Best of luck to all involved.

Bingo has started in the new hall in recent weeks and has proven to be a tremendous success with huge
numbers turning up every thursday night. For anyone interested in playing come along on a thursday night
kick off at 8.30

Thats all this week

Thanks to all
