MENS NOTES:

Our seniors continued their good performance in the league with a 0-19 to 1-9 win over Caherlistrane played in Caherlistrane on Saturday evening.

Intermediates are scheduled to play Oileáin Árainn in Inis Mór next Saturday at 1.00 pm.

Under 15s won their 4th league match last Sunday defeating Tuam Stars in Belclare.

We play  Monivea-Abbey in the final league match on Sunday morning in Belclare at 12.00.

35 of our Under 8s travelled to Aodh Ruadh club in Ballyshannon last Saturday to play in their club blitz.  The boys played against teams from Donegal and Fermanagh.  The games were followed by lunch and disco in the clubhouse.  An enjoyable day was had by all.  Thanks to Ciarán Lynch and coaches for organising and supervising on the day.  Thanks also to parents who travelled and helped.  Following this successful trip we have a game versus Oranmore/Maree on Saturday next, 11 October in Belclare.  Players are to assemble at 10.00 am.

Under 6s have their blitz also this Saturday in Belclare at 10.00 am.

"Up for the Match" – how about "Up for the Breakfast"?  Corofin GAA club are hosting a breakfast morning – pre County final – on Sunday 19th October from 9.00 am to 12 midday, in Raftery's Bar.  Come along for some lively banter, match predictions and a bit of craic, while you enjoy your cooked breakfast.  The cost for adults is €10 and children €5.  Tickets will be available from local shops and committee members.  We wish to sincerely thank Frank Collins for hosting and sponsoring this novel event.

We express our sympathies to the family of Tim Welby, Ardskeamore, who died last week.  May he rest in peace.

LADIES FOOTBALL:

U8s training continues every Tuesday at 6.15 in Belclare.

Well done to the girls who took part in the annual U10 County Football Blitz which took place last Saturday in the Annaghdown GAA grounds.  It was a great performance by the girls. They did themselves, their parents and the club proud.  A big thanks to all the parents who helped out on the day.   Training has finished for the season.  Ken and the management team send their thanks for your support and hope to see you all next season.

Well done to the Corofin girls who played for Galway in an under 11 blitz.  They all played extremely well and did themselves, their parents, their club and their County proud.

U12 training takes place on Thursday in Belclare at 6.15, in preparation for the final versus Killanin at the weekend.

Well done to the minor girls who had a historic victory for the club in winning the division A, Mairéad Meehan Shield, final which was held in Caltra on Sunday.   We defeated Caltra in the final.  Both teams put up a brilliant display of fast, free flowing football.  Well done also to their parents, supporters and the management team.

Hard luck to the senior ladies who lost the championship replay to Kilkerrin Clonberne by 1-3 to 0-11.  The game was played under lights in Glenamaddy last Friday Night.

Note for the diary - 24th October in Rafterty’s Corofin, 6pm to 9pm.  Corofin Ladies club is holding an end of Year monster Halloween Ball, with loads of prizes, raffles, fun and maybe a few scary Witches and Goblins.  Everyone is welcome but be in costume!

Regular updates are posted on the Ladies Facebook page, so check it out.  It’s rumored that Michael Jackson will make it there!
